Consumer Forecast

More consumers are saying they don’t identify with any particular church or religion, but are spiritual in some way.

“The number of people who do not identify with any religion continues to grow at a rapid pace. One-fifth of the public – and a third of adults under 30 – are religiously unaffiliated today, the highest percentages ever in Pew Research Center polling.“In the last five years alone, the unaffiliated have increased from just over 15%.

Fictional narratives and myths are being used to explain and develop new ideas for the future.

“One intriguing new way to think about the future is through the concept of ‘design fiction’. This is an approach to design that speculates about new ideas through prototyping and storytelling; thinking very seriously about potential objects. www.slate.com, March 2012
